as he tells it... "there I was looking down from Alamo Square
and what did I see but the sun reflecting off of the gold on
the dome and I thought, right there that's where we need to
have a poetry reading..."

Jorge Molina opens the show, you can see his opening on youtube.com if
you follow this link.
He says a prayer and blows a conch shell under the rotunda.
but if you are a part of the poetry scene in San Francisco, you know it begins well before that...
We begin at every open mic poetry and spoken word event in the city and draw names from each venue to be the first readers in this show.

The show always begins at 5:30...
more to come!!!
Over years last two we've collected
fifty readers from all over the city
at open mic events
and over sixty
from of each of the day's events
so as a result, over one hundred readers have
read at City Hall!!!
This is our favorite email we received from
last year's event...
This is just to say how grateful I feel for this whole event which I
participated in last night. It was, from my perspective, graciously
well-organized and flowed with great aplomb.
Leaving city hall, stepping out into the dusk, under sunset-lit cirrus clouds
and the near-full moon ascending, I had to just stop and thank the stars for
the strange inspirations that prompt individuals such as you to pull
disparate energies together to make such happenings.
I am sure all the timeless surrealists and dada saints and strange
intuitives from all the worlds are full of gratitude and assurance that such
beings as you all are have decided to continue the links of the magic chain
of creativity.
So, once more, I convey to you my gratitude and wonder, in response to
your marvelous generosity.
Sincerely,
Walker Brents III
